Quinceanera was Winx’s first surviving foal, born at Coolmore Stud in October 2022 after the champion mare had lost her first foal two years earlier. Bred by the Kepitis, Tighe and Treweeke families who raced Winx, she carried an unusually personal connection to her breeders before any thought of racing began.

Her sire, Pierro, had completed the Golden Slipper, Sires’ Produce Stakes and Champagne Stakes treble as an unbeaten two-year-old. The mating united two outstanding Australian racehorses, with Lonhro and Street Cry as Quinceanera’s grandsires. Her name was announced on Christmas Eve 2024, taking its meaning from the Latin American celebration of a girl’s fifteenth birthday.

Quinceanera entered the 2024 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale as Lot 391 in Coolmore’s draft. On 8 April, Debbie Kepitis’s Woppitt Bloodstock secured her for A$10 million after a bidding contest with American owner John Stewart’s Resolute Racing. The price set a world record for a yearling filly and doubled the previous Southern Hemisphere yearling record.

Kepitis had initially agreed to offer the filly for sale, but her family’s feelings changed as the auction approached. Having shared Winx’s racing journey, they found it increasingly difficult to contemplate parting with her daughter. The purchase kept Quinceanera within the family, turning a globally watched auction into a deeply personal moment.

Quinceanera joined Chris Waller’s Rosehill stable, where she began her education without a fixed deadline for racing. In March 2025, Waller described her as a quick learner with some similarities to Winx, while stressing that her ability had yet to be tested.

By May, she was undertaking gallops and barrier education. Ben Cadden, who had ridden Winx in trackwork, regularly partnered her. The stable reported that she was progressing well but continued to let her development determine the timetable. She finished her two-year-old season without a public trial or race.

Quinceanera returned to Coolmore Stud to begin her breeding career. In September 2026, she was covered by Caulfield Guineas winner Super Seth. Kepitis explained that the family had considered the mating on pedigree grounds and also held a small interest in the stallion.

At the time of that announcement, a pregnancy had not yet been confirmed. Her next chapter therefore remained at its beginning, with the possibility of producing Winx’s first grandchild.
